The latest seasonal allocations for April 2024 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
Well below average rainfall totals were recorded at storages during March with a high of 3.8 mm recorded at Mt Cole (10% of their historic monthly averages). As a result, minor inflow was recorded to reservoirs during March (140 ML), with year-to-date inflow approximately 30% of the historic average. Allocation to Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product entitlements remained at 87%, the Glenelg River Compensation Flow and Wetlands entitlements remain at 49%, and the Recreation entitlement remains at 46%. No allocation has been made to the Commonwealth Environmental entitlement.
A revised system reserve rule came into effect in 2022/23, with 45,000 megalitres now in reserve. The revised rule shares the available water between entitlements and the system reserve as soon as allocations commence. As a result, no inflow was recorded to reservoirs during February, with year-to-date inflow approximately 30% of the historic average. Allocation to Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product entitlements remained at 81%, the Glenelg River Compensation Flow and Wetlands entitlements remain at 26%, and the Recreation entitlement remains at 22%. No allocation has been made to the Commonwealth Environmental entitlement.

No allocation has been possible yet to Commonwealth Environmental entitlement.
