Donald’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is being upgraded to better service Donald’s growing industrial district, enhance water security and keep our open spaces green.
Work began earlier this year to modify the treatment lagoons and storages. Together with the construction of a new mechanical plant, these lagoons will provide additional wastewater treatment and storage capacity.
The new mechanical plant will provide an enhanced treatment process. It is low-maintenance and energy-efficient, resulting in better outcomes for customers while maintaining water and service costs.
The work is scheduled for completion this summer.
During these works, residents may notice an increase in road traffic. Members of the public are asked not to enter the active construction site for their own safety.
GWMWater Managing Director Mark Williams said the project was part of the organisation’s annual capital program.
“This project signifies a substantial investment in the region,” Mr Williams said.
“The enhanced treatment process and use of the technology marks a first for GWMWater, and we envision the Donald WWTP will be the blueprint for future wastewater treatment plants in our service region."
The upgraded Donald WWTP will produce a higher quality recycled water that will be suitable for irrigating turf, flower and tree lots, golf courses, sporting fields and community areas. This will provide a valuable water source to reduce pressure on our drinking water supplies, enhance water security, keep our open spaces green year-round and support the local economy.
Customers in the area will be able to express their interest in receiving a recycled water supply. For more information, please contact us on 1300 659 961 or via email at
